THE CLEANUP NOTEBOOK
Know your load before you fill it.
Get approval for your actual materials
Many projects involve ordinary household items or construction debris, but acceptance depends on the container agreement and disposal facility. Ask about your specific load before booking. Do not assume that every non-liquid item is accepted.
Keep hazardous items out
Paint, solvents, oils, pesticides, batteries, fuel, propane cylinders, and other hazardous products need authorized disposal. Suspected asbestos and contaminated building materials require specialized guidance. Never conceal restricted waste inside bags or furniture.
Ask about special items
Mattresses, tires, electronics, appliances, and refrigerant-containing equipment may be restricted, need separate handling, or carry additional disposal costs. Soil, concrete, and roofing debris also have special weight considerations. Obtain explicit confirmation before adding them.
Use local disposal guidance
Consult the applicable city, county, or disposal facility for household hazardous waste programs and recycling options. Keep labels on chemicals and do not mix substances. If you find an unidentified product during a cleanout, set it aside safely and ask for guidance.
This guide is general information. Accepted materials, weight limits, permits, and rental terms must be checked for your particular project and location.
